Fluorescent lights bulbs are much better than the regular ones because they are green, environmental friendly and it saves you a lot of energy in the long run, which means lower utility bills.
I shall start the hub by explaining how fluorescent light bulbs work. Fluorescent light bulbs, unlike conventional light bulbs, use chemical reaction to produce light. There are argon gas and mercury vapor inside a fluorescent tube as well as electrodes on both ends. Electrons produced by the electrodes hit the mercury atoms and produce ultraviolet photons. These photons react with the phosphor coating of the fluorescent tube and produce white light. In the process, only light and not unnecessary heat, is generated. Thus, energy wastage is significantly reduced.
Now, fluorescent light bulbs are about four to six times more energy efficient than regular light bulbs. That means a 15 watt fluorescent light bulb is equivalent to a 60 watt regular light bulb. So, start making the right decision and replace the regular light bulbs at home with the more energy efficient ones.
