What Makes a Good Back Massage?

What is the best way to relax after a tiring day at work? The answer is definitely a good back massage. I have to admit that I am a back massage addict myself. Sometimes, when I am in a shopping mall, I will spend a couple of dollars on the back massage chairs just for relaxation purposes. In this hub, I will talk about several characteristics of a good back massage.

Massage techniques is probably the most important criteria. The best back massage technique is definitely the shiatsu massage with its deep muscle penetration. If you are new to Shiatsu massage, you might feel the pain initially. However, after several sessions, you are going to enjoy it as much as I do. Now, performing a shiatsu massage might not be easy either. The other alternative is a full body massage that covers the neck, the shoulder, the back, the chest, the lower limbs and the stomach. You knead the muscles all the way down and gently work your way back up again. Most conventional back massages are done in this way.

The second criteria is the surrounding atmosphere. Back massage works really well in certain environments. The best ones would be a dimly lit room with a soft music in the background. It helps massage recipients relax and feel every stroke and sensation of the back massage. This is the same setup used by most professional massage therapists, who try to help their clients relax as much as possible. Relaxed, happy clients are satisfied customers.

Last but not least, the quality of back massage also depends on the "substance" you use and your relationship with the recipients. Alright, when I talk about substance, I am actually referring to aromatic oil. The usage of aromatic oil in back massage therapies helps calm the recipients. It is probably due to its smooth sensation and the fragrance of the aromatic oil. Also, a lot of studies have shown that back massages given by someone you love (maybe your partner) actually improve the relationship and build intimacy. Hence, this leads me to conclude that a good back massage could depend on the relationship between massage givers and massage recipients.

So, there are three criteria that define a good back massage. I hope that you will benefit from the information presented in this hub.
