Nut Allergy

Most of the recipes that I have presented in my previous hubs contain nuts. Of course, some people are allergic to nuts and some of the recipes are not suitable for them. Mark my words! Nut allergy can be fatal. Most people make the mistakes of not learning what to do when their friends or relatives encounter such situations. You can prevent that! So, here, I am going to outline several precautionary steps to take in order to avoid nut allergy attack.

Let's begin by talking about the different degrees of severity of nut allergy. Some people are very allergic to nuts, some are only moderately allergic while others are just mildly allergic. Those who are very allergic to nuts cannot even be in the vicinity of peanuts. For example, if these people are in the same room with peanuts, it would trigger serious reactions like the swelling up of the throat and asphyxiation. A slight whiff of peanuts is all it takes to send them to the hospital. For those who are moderately allergic, they are safe as long as they do not consume nuts. For the mildly allergic folks, they are usually only allergic to the mold found in tree nuts.

Now, for the precautionary steps. If you know very well that you are suffering from nut allergy, always bring your needle with you. Most of the time, nut allergy can be treated with allergy shots and injections. I have a friend who is suffering from nut allergy and he always bring his needle with him. According to him, if his nut allergy is triggered, his metabolism rate dramatically shoots up. He will then need to take the shot to slow it down and bring it back to its normal level. If you are lucky, your allergy shots might be just what you need to get over this allergy. It is not uncommon for a nut allergy to go away after several months of allergy medication. However, if you think that the allergy is getting out of control, you have no choice but to call 911 and be rushed to the hospital.

There you have it! All the information you need to know about nut allergy, its varying degree of severity and some precautionary steps that need to be taken in case an allergy reaction is triggered. Now that you have all this information with you, I am sure you will be able to handle a nut allergy if it happens.
